2000

Music Camp 2000 was held the second week of July, the 9th through 14th, ending with the traditional Friday night program. This year we had 171 campers and 30 staff.

Below is a picture of all of the campers and staff.

In what has now become a Music Camp tradition, we were woken from our restful sleep at 7am. We are greeted by the Pete and Dave Morning Radio show. Pete Kennaday and Dave Benson, combine their comedy and musical knowledge to start each day. This year the boys were under new management Christopher and Jeremy McDonald provided the power to generate a visit from the State Police.

Like last year Bible Trivia and the counselor fashion show made a return as evening activities, along with the a skit night and the ever popular after dark Capture the Flag with Pete again singing the rules. Afternoons at camp brought out some traditional activities.

Wednesday afternoon we had our 200 foot water slide and Tuesday we had our camp softball game. Both days the sound system was out either doing play by play or playing tunes to ‘slide by’.

This year had a slight change during club Bryan and Jean Wenger provided the spiritual talks and trivia each evening. The ‘sermonettes’ and Bible Studies are tied to the musical, which reinforces the message and ministered to us all.

For the first time in the 29 year history of Music Camp, the weather forced us to move the concert off of the campgrounds. We packed up all of our belongings and headed to the Federated Church in East Springfield, PA about a 4 mile trip from camp. The concert was held in the Federated Family Center, a recreation hall / gymnasium built behind the church. There is where we held our band concert, and performed the choral musical “Living it Up” by Dennis and Nan Allen. After that we said our good-byes at the church until next year when we meet again, the second week of July.
